Now available from Dalsa Corporation of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, is the Falcon 1.4M100 - a 1.4-megapixel area camera that is capable of operating at 100 fps at full resolution.
It uses Dalsa's patented, complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor technology which, claims the firm, delivers an image of outstanding quality, at high speeds. This is accomplished by using the company's global shutter technology and by achieving 57 dB of dynamic range.
Fully programmable, via base Mini Camera Link, the Falcon 1.4M100 offers the user functions such as exposure control, windowing, gain and offset adjustment, and flat-field correction. The Sapera CamExpert point-and-click graphical user-interface makes the camera easy to control and use. Data are transmitted over a Mini Camera Link cable.
"The Falcon 1.4M100 has the ability to increase throughput and the quality of inspection, which are of tremendous value to semiconductor and electronics inspection customers. Providing better image quality ensures more reliable inspection, and leads to fewer product defects and greater system efficiency," commented Mark Butler, Product Manager at Dalsa.
The system is compatible with Dalsa's Xcelera series of frame grabbers and its X64-CL and Anaconda CL vision processors.
Housed in an ultra-compact body, the camera is ideal for applications in electronics manufacturing and semiconductor inspection, which require high accuracy and fast throughput rates, says Dalsa. Other applications include general machine vision to assess print registration, for example, and the inspection of pharmaceuticals.
